HARRISON, NY (June 12, 1997) - InnoVal Systems Solutions is pleased to announce a free edition of its best selling e-mail client software, the Post Road Mailer. The "Free Edition" is identical, in every respect, to the commercial Pro Edition, Release 2.5. Only the software license is different. Nothing is crippled and there are no time limitations.
"We are getting ready to release a Java edition of the Post Road Mailer later this year," said Dan Porter, president of InnoVal. "We are truly excited about it and all the new and expanded functions it will include. It will be, without question, the most feature-rich, comprehensive, high performance professional email client on the market for any operating system. At the same time it will be the easiest to use. We want the entire OS/2 community to know that. Offering a free edition of our native OS/2 mailer is one way to get the word out."

A free standing e-mail helper app for Internet faxing with FaxWorks Pro.
FxEmail will mime encode your fax (alternative uuencode) and send it out via SMTP to any Internet address simply by using that Internet address in lieu of a phone number in version 3+ of FaxWorks Pro. No external e-mail software is required to send.
FxEmail will also function as a REXX exit in PMMail 1,92 (and probably other e-mail packages) to decode the fax file and automatically receive it into your Fax log just as if it had been received by conventional means.
FxEmail is written in Object REXX so Warp 4 is required.
It is currently in hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming but will eventually be in pub/os2/applications/internet/mail

BRUNSWICK, VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA, (May 31, 1997) - To all commercial ISV's - WarpSpeed Computers is offering use of its Internet server to provide a single unified site for updates of their products. The offer is open to all commercial ISV's who are shipping OS/2 products. There is no charge for this service. IBM have offered their full support for this initiative by placing a link from their updates page to the WarpSpeed Computers page.
Updates to products, particularly when dealing with multiple vendors, can often be tedious and very time consuming to find and install. WarpSpeed Computers is offering its Internet server as a holding site for updates. The updates will be made available via four different methods. Gopher and FTP will be provided for those users who prefer a standard gopher or FTP interface. Also provided is a modified gopher server which is needed for the "Retrieve Software Updates" program that was supplied with OS/2 Warp 3.
Support for the newer web based "Retrieve Software Updates" (RSU) program is also provided. IBM is using the RSU method for the distribution of its own CSD's and other updates. Using the RSU method, the user clicks on a link to a small RSU file. This RSU file is recognized by a suitably modified web browser (IBM provides an update program for Netscape and Web Explorer users), downloaded and passed onto the RSUINST.EXE program. The RSUINST program downloads the real updates and then runs an install program.
The site has been fully operational for a month and we have had two ISV's join up. Spitfire Software (InCharge!) and Sundial Systems (Mesa, Relish, DBExpert) have had their latest updates made available using this service and the reports back have been encouraging. It seems that users do indeed appreciate this service.
WarpSpeed Computers will provide documentation and support to those ISV's that require it. The information can be found at http://www.warpspeed.com.au/rsuinfo.htm.
"The real aim of this offering is to make it is easier on the users. Nothing else," says Director and CEO Chris Graham. "We have seen an obvious need in the market and we have supplied a solution to it. The concept was mentioned to the editors of some e-Zines and they thought that OS/2 users sorely needed such a service, so we just set out and did it. We use it for our own products and it works well. Why shouldn't we offer it to others?"
The WarpSpeed Computers Updates page can be accessed at: http://www.warpspeed.com.au/updates.htm. This page is the main page as it provides links to all of the ISV's supported in this endeavor.
This can only work with the support of other ISV's. We are hoping that all of them will get involved, as no-one looses. Everyone wins, particularly the users. All interested ISV's should e-mail Chris Graham at the below address for further details.
WarpSpeed has also expanded its offering to the participating ISV's by providing free use of its mailing list facilities. What is offered is a list mailing lists to choose from. Current lists are "Announcements," "Bugs" and "Updates," these three lists are freely available to all users - they can sign themselves up, query which lists they are on and remove themselves at will - all without the intervention of the individual ISV. When an ISV has an announcement to make, it is submitted to WarpSpeed Computers and we make sure that all users on the list under the appropriate section are e-mailed the information. The mailing list page is found at: http://www.warpspeed.com.au/maillist.htm.
IBM was asked to and agreed to place a link on their update pages to our page. This link can be found at: http://ps.software.ibm.com/pbin-usa-ps/getobj.pl?/pdocs-usa/otherservices.html. By providing this link, IBM is actively helping WarpSpeed Computers by providing exposure to its services which will encourage ISV's to participate.
Based in Brunswick, Victoria, Australia, WarpSpeed Computers has been in business since 1988 and is committed to producing high quality, low cost software which meets and exceeds the end user's expectations. The software is fully supported through CompuServe and other electronic means - including our own BBS and Web sites. Phone, fax and mail support are also available. InnoVal Systems Solutions is pleased to announce HACKSAW (TM), a new Internet tool for everyone who maintains a web site, sends email to mailing lists, or downloads files.
HACKSAW takes FTP to a new level of simplicity and sophistication. If you maintain a web site, you need this tool! Imagine updating your site with a single command. HACKSAW is a very useful command line tool for people who want something more than the existing FTP tools. But HACKSAW is much more. It can retrieve web pages and other web-based files using the HTTP protocol, or it can retrieve just their headers. It can send email messages to a single email address or to an entire mailing list through an SMTP server. It can retrieve, count, and/or delete any or all messages waiting for you on a POP3 mail server.
Rich FTP Functions:
HACKSAW supports the traditional FTP commands such as DIR, RENAME, DELETE, SEND and GET as well as SITE commands. Additionally, it implements SENDALL and GETALL which can be used to send or retrieve all the files in the specified directory. SENDALL and GETALL support wildcard character patterns such as *.HTM or S*.* and can also work only on files with a date stamp more recent than a specified one. SYNCHOST and SYNCLOCAL send all the files from the one location to the other, which exist on the source but not on the target, or have a later date stamp on the source than the matching file on the target. SENDALL and SYNCHOST let you specify whether you want the files sent with uppercase filenames, lowercase filenames, or using the same filenames as they exist on the local drive. All six of these Send/Get commands can automatically perform a specified SITE command against the host file(s) after the file transfer(s)!
Flexible Control File, Command Line or Prompted Operation:
You can use control files to perform the same or similar FTP function on a whole list of filename specifications at once, retrieve HTTP-based files, retrieve mail from multiple POP3 accounts at once, or send mail via SMTP.
HACKSAW can also take its instructions from the command line, from its configuration (INI) file, or any combination of these without any user interaction at runtime. This way, it can perform functions during off-peak hours by means of a task scheduler or alarm program such as InnoVal's WebSched. (WebSched provides support for the Windows 95 and Windows NT dialers without waiting for a user to click on a dialog button before dialing.) An optional batch file or other program running HACKSAW can determine what HACKSAW did, because HACKSAW returns errorlevel codes to tell such a program whether it ran into any errors, or how many pieces of mail it found waiting on a POP3 server, etc.
Whatever instructions you don't feed to HACKSAW via the command line, a control file, or the configuration file, it will prompt you for at run time. So if you like, you can just tell it the main function you want it to execute, and it will ask you for all the other information it needs to perform that function, a piece at a time. You can run it that way if you prefer to have the program remind you of what it needs to know, so you don't have to think of everything in advance.
OS/2 and Windows 95/NT Versions Available:
The OS/2 and Windows 95/NT versions are compiled from the exact same source code, so the two versions are identical and released concurrently. You can even share one configuration file between the two versions, if you use both operating systems.
The OS/2 version comes with two REXX programs, one of which is a very configurable Spam Filter (or Twit Filter) which will delete unwanted messages from your POP3 server before your regular email program clutters your mailbox with them.
Order HACKSAW on our secure order form at http://www.innoval.com and we will send you an e-mail with instructions for downloading the product along with a license number and details on obtaining technical support. Please note that all InnoVal products come with a 30-day money back guarantee. If you are not satisfied for any reason whatsoever, remove the product from your system and contact us to obtain a full refund.

May 22, 1997 - Modular Dreams Incorporated today announces the release of MD+F Web Animation Kit (MD+F WebAK), their first SX based graphics application as well as the most capable World Wide Web graphics program for IBM OS/2 Warp.
MD+F WebAK is the one OS/2 tool which no website administrator can be without. Features of WebAK are:
GIF Animations
WebAK provides the ability to load and take apart GIF animations, construct them by simple drag-and-drop, test animations by playing them (even supporting the Restore Previous method yet supported by Netscape), or save them using a highly optimized algorithm for the smallest file size possible. And unlike most other applications, WebAK is designed to also create and work with GIF Animations containing hundreds of frames.
Pattern Generation
WebAK's Pattern Generator lets you create seamless patterns for use as backgrounds or for inclusion in your animations. With additional tools such as an Image Holder to store your patterns, a variety of filters for touching-up, and an Image Tile tester, creating backgrounds for web pages has never been any easier.
Image maps
WebAK's Image map Writer lets you highlight areas on an image, specify links, and creates Server-side or Client-side image maps for you, with or without HTML test code. Once you use this tool, you will never want to hand-code Image maps again.
Scripting
WebAK's easy to use scripting language simplifies the tasks needed for more complex animations, even for the most casual computer users. For more advanced users, the scripting language (actually a C++ style interpreter) provides more features such as the ability to create or destroy objects, variables, test conditions, and looping constructs. Either way, you can find dozens of interesting example scripts on Modular Dreams' website to get you started.
Image formats and Alpha channel
WebAK support a variety of image formats including GIF, Jpeg, and lossless Jpeg for loading images and some of the more common formats should you wish to save single images. It also supports Alpha channels for specifying transparency.
Collapse and Resurrect
By using WebAK's unique Collapse and Resurrect feature, you can store not only the end result of your work, such as a GIF animation, but also the steps that went into it, for example the GIF Animator window and its settings, the various effect dialogs which you have open and even any links you created by drag-and-dropping between objects. If you create something neat, don't just tell others how to do it, give them your whole environment. Everything, even images being displayed, will be neatly stored in one file! Once you use the Collapse and Resurrect feature provided by WebAK, you will wish all your other programs did this.
You can get current information about the MD+F WebAK from Modular Dreams at their website located at http://www.modulardreams.com. The website also contains usage information and screen shots of the product. To purchase MD+F WebAK, contact your favorite OS/2 dealer. The MSRP for MD+F WebAK is $69.99.
